To mark the centennial of the outbreak of World War I, students from the UO School of Music and Dance will present a concert of period songs chosen from the UO Libraries' Historic Sheet Music Collection. The event will also feature brief historical remarks by Alex Dracobly of the Department of History.

New Process for Summit Item Requests

New Process for Summit Item Requests

Beginning January 20, 2015, Summit item requests will be done directly in the UO Libraries' LibrarySearch interface. Summit items will continue to be discoverable in LibrarySearch, which will offer a link to "Place Summit request (about 5 days)." However, patrons will no longer need to log into a different system to place a Summit item request. Instead, the link in the "Get It" tab will provide a form with information about your item and a "Request" button.

A number of new employees have joined the University of Oregon Libraries in recent months. Among these new colleagues, the library is pleased to welcome a faculty member. Beginning in July 2014, Jonathan Cain was named Government Information Librarian with Reference & Research Services.

Tuesday, January 13, 5:30 p.m., Global Scholars Hall 123

In conjunction with the opening of Die Weiße Rose (The White Rose), an exhibit chronicling a renowned student resistance group in Nazi Germany, a panel of UO Scholars will hold a roundtable discussion on the mentality of "ordinary" people in the Third Reich. Scheduled in Room 123 of the Global Scholars Hall, this event is free and open to the public. Refreshments will be served beginning at 5:00 p.m. with the roundtable discussion to follow at 5:30.

In preparation for the first phase of major renovations, the UO Science Library will be closed for the entire winter break, December 13, 2014 to January 4, 2015.  The library is scheduled to reopen when classes resume on January 5.
