Free Insight Seminar Lecture to Focus on Sonnets

On Monday, April 29, Leah Middlebrook, professor of comparative literature at the UO, will offer a free lecture entitled "Sonnetization: The Fateful Encounter of Argument and Song Launches the Poem of Western Modernity." The lecture runs from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. in the Knight Library's Browsing Room. Professor Middlebrook will explore the thirteenth-century origins of the sonnet form, highlighting the flexibility, durability, and perennial modernity of this form of poem.

Nominations for 2013 are now open to UO faculty members who would like to suggest items for purchase. The deadline for proposing titles is Friday, March 29, 2013; the awards will be announced soon thereafter.

Remote Reference Service Now on 4th Floor of Knight Library

The 4th floor of Knight Library now has a remote reference service desk at the top of the stairwell. Librarians will be at this desk Monday-Thursday from 1-4 p.m. and will also be available to assist patrons on the 2nd and 3rd floors. These librarians will be available to assist patrons getting started with research, finding books and articles, citing sources, and more.

UO Russian Theater Presenting Balaganchik March 9

The Russian, East European, and Eurasian Studies (REEES) program will present productions of Balaganchik, or "The Puppet Show," on Saturday, March 9, at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday, March 10, at 2:30 p.m. in Room 123 of the Global Scholars Hall, 1710 E. 15th Ave, Eugene. The performances are free and open to the public, and seating is first come, first served.
