Circulation Policy

The circulation of music books and scores follows the loan rules of the Knight Library's Circulation policies. Undergraduates and UO staff may borrow music scores and books for three weeks. UO faculty and UO graduate students check out music scores and books for six months.

Most books and scores from the Music Reference area are non-circulating. Bound periodicals and journals may be checked out for three days.

Compact discs located in the Audio & Video Room (Douglass Room) may be checked out for 7 days (see exception for materials on reserve, below). All borrowers may listen to vinyl (LP) and cassette tape recordings inside  the library; UO students, faculty and staff may check out these materials for 7 days.

In addition, DVDs and video laserdiscs are also found in the Audio & Video Room. Checkout policies for these materials are:

  • Faculty and GTFs: 3 days, plus one renewal. Maximum six items at any time. Fines: $3/day
  • UO graduate and undergraduate students and classified staff: 3 days, no renewals. Maximum three items at any time. Fines: $3/day.

Materials on reserve in the Audio & Video Room may be checked out for 3 hours (5 hours for faculty and GTFs).
