In the final film, Dig, a boy and his dog follow a talking boulder under the earth's crust to discover its inner mysteries.

He raises his son Guanzai alone, but their relationship breaks down for some time. However, through his own experiences and his father's fate, Guanzai comes to understand his father and life itself.

The second work traces the history of the Mississippi River and its tributaries. Shows the consequences of sharecropping, soil exhaustion, unchecked erosion, and flooding. Concludes with scenes of regional planning, Tennessee Valley development, and correlated Federal efforts.
