The Map and Aerial Photography (MAP) Library has over 300,000 maps, 600,000 aerial photographs, and 3,000 GIS data layers available. Established in 1968, the MAP Collection offers a unique collection of contemporary and historic mapping of Oregon and the Pacific Northwest. The Aerial Photography collection, the largest of its kind in Oregon and one of the largest in the nation, offers complete coverage of the state. Flights date back as far as the late 1920s.
General Information
Most of the maps and atlases are housed in public areas and are available any time the library is open. Our more fragile and older maps and atlases require assistance to use. If you don’t see any library personnel in the MAP Collection, ask for assistance at the Documents Center/Computer Help Desk or email map@uoregon.edu.
Assistance with locating maps is usually available 9 am - 5 pm Monday through Friday except for holidays. Many of our maps are not listed in the online catalog. You may wish to browse by call number (See Outline of "G" call numbers (LC G Schedule).)
Aerial photographs are not available without prior arrangements. Please use the Map and Aerial Photography Research Service to request aerial photographs. The service allows campus users to request photographs of an area for viewing in the library and allows remote users to request maps and air photos and view them digitally. We charge a fee for non-Oregon University System patrons to recover our labor costs.
