Hints for finding maps

  • Check out our 'How to find a map' guide.
  • If you have a specific call number, check the section of the MAP Library that corresponds to the filing indicator in parentheses at the end of the call number.
    • e.g.: G4294.E8 1980 (vf) will be in the 'Folded Maps' section.
  • If you have a general call number that relates to a place, look in all the sections of the MAP Library where that number might be found.
  • Note that only 15-20% of MAP Library materials are in the online catalog.  If you cannot find a reference to a specific map:
    • Find a call number for your area using:
    • Look in all of the library locations that might contain a map of interest:

      • (hist) (hist over) (hist mini)
Located in our secure storage area. Please ask staff for assistance in accessing these materials. Due to their fragile and rare nature, you may be asked to return when the MAP Librarian is available. For best results, make an appointment.
  • Still can't find a map?  Ask for help.
