Stanley B Greenfield Faculty Awards

Stanley B. Greenfield Faculty Awards Program

Purpose: To purchase research materials, outside the scope of annual departmental Library acquisitions, for the Library's collection on behalf of University of Oregon faculty members.

Nominations: During winter term, the Office of the Librarian will send a call for nominations to UO faculty members. Items nominated for purchase must be considered research material, and the faculty member must demonstrate the item's importance to research and scholarly activity in his or her field. Both individual and collaborative proposals are accepted. Faculty may request that the Program fund the entire cost of a nominated item, or that the Program match funding provided by the nominator's academic department. Recurring commitments, such as periodical subscriptions, are not eligible.

Criteria for selection:

  1. The item must be considered research material in nature, i.e., material strictly for classroom use is excluded.

  2. The item must be outside the scope of annual departmental Library acquisitions.

Amount awarded: The total amount awarded through the Program each year will be determined by the Library Administration. Typical purchases have ranged from $100 to $2,000. Awards will be announced each spring.
