Student Recreation Center Architecture of the University of Oregon
THE ARCHITECTURE OF THE UNIVERSITY OF OREGONStudent Recreation and Fitness CenterArchitect: TBG Architects (Eugene); Cannon-Parkin (Los Angeles). Construction: Hyland Construction. HistoryEsslinger Hall was expanded and substantially renovated to house new exercise areas, a running track, rock climbing wall, and other features. Student fees supplied most of the funding for the $18 million project. The documentation describing how the fitness center was planned (Snider) describes well how the "Oregon Experiment" approach to planning works. BibliographySnider, Joseph R.
