Generally, these sources are intended for the more advanced data user.

CLEA - Constituency-Level Elections Archive (International)
A repository of detailed election results at the constituency level for lower house legislative elections from around the world. Subsetting tool available; files downloadable in SAS, SPSS, some Stata, .dat, and other formats.
Election Assistance Commission (U.S.) Research and Data
Voting and elections administration surveys, voter registration studies data, more. Downloadable datasets in Excel, SAS, SPSS, DBF.

Election Results from the FEC
Results of presidential, senate and house elections, by state and district. From 2004 forward, results are available as Excel files.
Harvard Election Data Archive
This archive contains data on election results, voting behavior, and electoral politics, with particular focus on the United States. The core data for the archive are state, county and district level election returns for all recent state and federal elections in the United States. Variety of formats.

ISPS Data Archive (Yale Institution for Social and Policy Studies)
Social science research data from experiments, program files with the code for analyzing these data, requisite documentation to use and understand the data, and associated files. Data are deposited by ISPS-affiliated researchers, but are available for download, subject to terms of use. So far most of the data are from political science research.
LawAtlas "The Policy Surveillance Portal"
From Public Health Law Research, a gateway to state laws aimed at improving health or access to health care. The creators have mined and coded legal texts to create the data, which is searchable and mappable on the site. The data files can be downloaded in Excel format.

- ICPSR contains many election and public opinion studies in its data archives. Archived data is downloadable in a variety of formats, including SAS, SPSS, Stata, ASCII--but not all formats for all files.
