Finding Journal Articles

Are you looking for articles about a subject OR do you have a citation and need a copy of the article?

Articles about a subject:

The UO Library subcribes to over 100 electronic databases. The trick is to find the right one for your topic. Look at the research guide for your subject area. They give general recommendations.
Once you've completed a search in database and are viewing a citation you will see a FindText button
FindText will look for an electronic copy of the journal first. If one cannot be located click on UO faculty or UO Distance Ed students, request this item. and a request for an electronic copy of the article will be generated. Delivery of these takes 3 to 4 days. You will be notified electronically. FindText will also provide peer-reviewed/referred information about the journal from Ulrich's Periodicals Directory.

Your Local Library:

You should be able to find paper and/or microfilm copies of popular magazines at your local library. Most public libraries and some smaller schools however cannot support large collections of academic journals. Your local library may also have in-house and remote access to databases. Access to many libraries is available through the Internet:

Have a citation:

If one cannot be located click on UO faculty or UO Distance Ed students, request this item. and a request for an electronic copy of the article will be generated. Delivery of these takes 3 to 4 days. You will be notified electronically.
