The Image Services Center was established in July 2002 to promote preservation and facilitate access to fragile materials. Image Services preserves materials though microfilming, digitization, and photographic replication. We facilitate access by making surrogate copies for reference, study and exhibition.

Digital Imaging and Digital Projects

Image Services performs high-quality digitization of historical photograph materials, manuscripts, cultural artifacts and other visual materials. In addition, Image Services assists in the coordination of large scale, library wide digitization projects, consulting on equipment, advising on best practices and providing training and technical scanning support.

Microfilming

The Microfilming Unit creates archival copies of documents and legal records on 35mm and 16mm microfilm. Please contact Amanda Schmautz schmautz@uoregon.edu for more information.  The primary function of the Microfilming Unit is the preservation of historic and current Oregon newspapers in the Oregon Newspaper Project.
