Head of Collection Services

Overall management of the Collection Services department, including personnel and financial management, strategic planning as well as project management. Responsible for cataloging, acquisitions, collections budget, serials, electronic resources, processing and preservation activities for the Knight Library and its branches.

Slavic Librarian

Manages the cataloging of Slavic language materials. Creates original records, enhances existing records, and contributes these records to the UO Libraries’ catalog and the international library database, WorldCat, for Slavic language titles. Resolves complex problems relating to the records for these materials. Participates in the development and documentation of cataloging policies and procedures.

Marilyn Mohr
Senior Conservation Technician

Organizes work of the Beach Conservation Lab, providing services including book repair and book conservation, paper conservation, housing and reinforcement of paper format materials, as well as other physical formats, for all Library units.  Trains and coordinates work of student assistants and intern.  Provides consultation services to other institutions and the public.  Participates in disaster response.

Content Management Team

 

Kelley McGrath
Team Leader, Metadata Management Librarian

Manages and supervises the Content Management Team. Provides quality control of data in the UO Libraries’ catalog. Creates original records, enhances existing records, and contributes these records to the Libraries’ catalog and the international library database, WorldCat, for monographic titles. Specializes in non-book formats, such as DVDs and CD-ROMs. Resolves complex problems relating to these materials. Participates in the development and documentation of cataloging policies and procedures, both locally and at the national level. Edits and imports large sets of records into the Libraries’ catalog for e-books and other materials.

Hank Wilson
Authorities Specialist

Ensures consistency in the use of name and subject entries in the UO Libraries’ catalog, and the international library database, WorldCat. Assists in training other cataloging staff in the creation of records for individual authors. Creates author records, and reviews records created by other department staff. Contributes these records to the international name authority file overseen by the Library of Congress.

Kiley Erne
Temporary cataloger

Assists with quality control of the data in the UO Libraries’ catalog, including troubleshooting problems with older materials, and correlates physical items with card catalog cards and records in the Libraries’ catalog. Locates and evaluates records in the international library database, WorldCat, and creates original basic-level records for the Jaqua library collection on Jungian psychology. This collection was donated by Robin Jaqua and the cataloging was funded by John Jaqua. The collection is housed in the Hedco education building.

Monographic Acquisitions

 

Damon Campbell
Acquisitions Librarian

Provides leadership and expertise in all aspects of the acquisition and receipt of library resources.  Shapes acquisition models and creates workflows to efficiently acquire library resources.  Coordinates and monitors the activities of the monographic acquisitions section including selecting vendors and tracking their performance, invoicing purchases, receiving library materials and claiming materials not received.  Participates in the creation and management of the collections budget.  Provides training and supervision for monographic acquisitions staff and facilitates communication with extended library colleagues such as serials and subject specialists.  Contributes to the advancement of the Libraries’ mission through service on local and national committees.

Receiving Specialist

Oversees the receipt of books and other media, including the resolution of duplicate titles and other problematic items. Coordinates the receipt, distribution, and addition of donated material to the Libraries’ collection. Assists in allocation of the budget for acquiring new library materials to the various subject areas collected by the UO Libraries.  Administers the Popular Reading Collection program and manages receipts, returns, and the resolution of problems. Locates and evaluates records for monographic titles in the international library database, WorldCat, and either contributes them to the UO Libraries’ catalog or routes pieces to catalogers as appropriate.

Coordinates with UO Libraries Subject Specialists and with vendors to procure monographic titles for the UO Libraries’ collections. Investigates and resolves problematic orders. Coordinates and reconciles invoices from the purchase of library materials. Enters payments into UO’s Banner payment system.  Supervises Acquisitions student assistants. Locates and evaluates records for monographic titles in the international library database, WorldCat, and either contributes them to the Libraries’ catalog or routes pieces to catalogers as appropriate.
