Beach Conservation Lab

Marilyn Mohr (Senior Conservation Technician)

Amanda Garcia (Conservation Technician)

• Beach Lab staff preserve and protect the library's collections
• Evaluate materials for appropriate preservation, conservation and restoration treatment
• Perform reinforcement, repair and housing for book-format materials using archival materials
• Educate staff and public about preservation issues and procedures
• Participate in salvage of damaged materials

Bindery Preparation

Audrey Lee (Preservation/Binding Specialist)

• Collects, collates, and prepares serials and selected new monographs for commercial binding
• Maintains ABLE binding database
• Revises holdings information in library catalog (an Innovative system)
• Manages binding shipments (currently contracted to ICI's Northwest Library Bindery of Walla, Walla, WA
• Prepares materials for rebinding and reformatting
• Assists in retrospective conversion
• Performs physical preparation for commercial rebinding
• Identifies materials for replacement or reformatting
