Borrowing from the UO Libraries and Beyond
Who can borrow
- UO students, faculty and staff. Established Library accounts will remain active for one term past enrollment. Faculty also may ask to have their accounts activated two terms prior to the start of their appointment. UO Distance Education faculty and students, see Distance Education Services
- Oregon residents 16 years and older through the Oregon Card Program
- Students, faculty, and staff enrolled in schools with which we have reciprocial lending agreements
- UOAA members

Borrowing Policies
- Loan Periods:
- General Material:
- UO graduate students and faculty: 6 months plus one renewal.
- Honors College seniors and other departmental honors seniors working on term long research projects: one term
- All others: three weeks plus one renewal
- Restricted Materials (includes items on course reserves): loan periods vary from two hours to 14 days.
- General Material:
- Fees and Overdue Fines:
- General Material and Summit or ILL material: $.50/day for 10 days, $1/day thereafter
- Recalls: $4/day
- Restricted Material: varies by collection.
- Course Reserves: $4 for first hour or any part, $1.50/hr. thereafter
- Damaged or lost items: Repair or replacement charge plus $20 service charge plus accrued fines
- Recalls: All items are subject to recall at any time (including breaks between terms or semesters)
- Booking (reserving) videos
- Delivery of Library Material: You may request delivery of library materials to a more convenient UO Library for checkout. UO Faculty may request that books from the general collections of the Libraries be delivered to their Eugene campus departments. Students enrolled in distance education programs may request home delivery of library materials.
- Equipment:
- Communication: From the Student E-mail Communication Policy: Employees and students are expected to review messages received through their UO e-mail account on a frequent and consistent basis. Individuals must ensure that there is sufficient space in their accounts to allow for e-mail to be delivered. Communications may be time-critical. Individuals should use UO e-mail accounts for all University-related e-mail communications.

The Library reserves the right to deny borrowing privileges based upon just cause.
The University of Oregon Libraries' general philosophy is to protect the privacy of its readers. Library staff are not authorized to release information to the public or outside agencies without clearance from the University Counsel.
